Book Details

Perhaps the king in the Old Testament most familiar to readers of them Bible, King David's story begins with him as a Shepherd boy tending his father's flocks, slaying Goliath the formidable giant an incredible feat which earned him the favour of King Saul, the reigning King.
A harpist whose heart is devoted to Yahweh, his soothing strains on the harp could even calm King Saul whose fluctuating moods and miseries made him suspect David of plotting against him and hounding him. After King Saul and his son are killed in battle, David is anointed King of the tribe of Judah, and eventually of all Israel.
Few there be who have not read or memorised verses from the Psalms of David.
Despite his failings as a mere mortal, the Lord still acknowledged him as "a man after my own heart."
