Book Details

Poetry is emotions infused in words. It is a divinely inspired ceremonial rite performed in an enchantingly unreal universe. A poem can only be written during the emotionally charged state of mind or psyche. Once a particular emotional state pertaining to a thought, aspect, or subject vanishes, the literary wherewithal to mould those emotions into words also disappears like smoke from fire. The poems in the present volume paint the traces of suppressions, pangs, love, longings, dreams, devotion, worldliness, and desire. There is no central theme as varied aspects of life have been penned in the colours of imagination. The title Tranquil Whispers justifies the underlying essence, for every thought has whispered something to my inner self during the daybreaks, empty afternoons, or deep silent nights. Most of them are sonnets in rhymed couplets, whereas there are a few long narrative poems. The poem titled Wordsworth's Michael is a sequel to Michael by William Wordsworth; an imaginative poem has been composed on Chitrasen—one of the Gandharvas in Hindu mythology; an acrostic poem draws a philosophical painting; the poems on flattery, money, and mother-in-law are in a different tone than the others. This creative penning shows how the commonplace moments and experiences hit differently to a sensitive heart and leave a deep imprint! The literary merit of these bits depends on the thoughtfully sensitive readers. God is the Creator; isn't a poet too?

Thanks to Emily Dickinson.
