Author Description

Carol and Arvin Gibson met at the University of California in Berkeley and were married in 1950. They raised their four children in California and now have several grandchildren.Carol was active in school, political, and civic activities. Arvin graduated with a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the University of California. He took post-graduate courses from the International School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, UCLA, General Electric, and the Edison Electric Institute. For many years he worked and performed research in the field of nuclear engineering.Arvin came to Utah to join Utah Power and Light Company, where he became an executive vice president. He was responsible for engineering power plant and major transmission systems, construction, operations, planning and budgeting, and supervising 1600 employees.When Arvin retired from Utah Power, he became interested in near-death experiences due to an earlier experience of his father. Carol and Arvin began research in the field in 1990. They enjoyed being active in a local chapter of the International Association for Near Death Studies (IANDS of Utah).Both Carol and Arvin held numerous teaching and service positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
