Book Details

While eleven-year-old Hannah Turner cares for the family's sheep alone in the mountains, she faces the most unlikely dangers—from snakes to Indians to the Bear Lake monster. This delightful coming-of-age novel will enthrall young and old alike as Hannah learns to overcome fears and trust in herself to make the right decisions.

Author Description

A former teacher and school librarian, I write for both children and adults. The oldest of six children, I grew up in Kansas City, but I've also spent time in St. Louis, Worcester, MA and Chicago. I live in Kansas City with my husband Peter Doyle and try to manage the annual crop of weeds that takes over our gardens. Our son Gerry is a journalist and novelist. He and his wife Kara, a talented writer herself, live in Abu Dhabi. Although I miss having them closer to home, traveling to visit them has led to trips to the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Egypt and Jordan.
