Author Description

Darren E. Schmidt was raised in Layton, Utah, and was one of six children. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wellington, New Zealand. He attended the University of Utah and received a bachelor's degree in psychology as well as a master's degree in educational psychology in 2006. He and his wife and sweetheart, Jolynn, are the parents of eight children (five boys and three girls) and reside in West Jordan, Utah.

Darren has been teaching seminary and institute in Salt Lake City for the seminaries and institutes of religion for more than fifteen years. He is a regular speaker at BYU Education Week, teaching both youth and adult classes, as well as a speaker and session director for Especially for Youth programs. An avid sports fan, Darren loves coaching youth sports teams and running sports clinics for children and youth through evening community education programs. He also loves music, video editing, good humor, singing with his wife and children, and spending time with his family.
