Book Details

I believe I am one of those people addicted to self-help literature. Or at least I was. And I acknowledge that the many books I read on the subject helped me to think. Also to reflect. But they helped me little, because in reality I didn't know how—or didn't want—to change. So I thought it wouldn't be bad to write my own opinions on those transcendental themes that this type of literature addresses. Because demystifying is good. And because deep down, I consider that knowing the problems and their solutions will always help; even those who refuse to be helped.

Author Description

Mariano Velasco Lizcano was born in Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real) on December 4, 1956. He holds a Doctorate in Political Science and Sociology from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). He has also completed multiple University Courses in the area of the Environment and Environmental Education. He began his literary and research activities at the end of the eighties, but it would not be until the beginning of the nineties that this activity would become an essential part of his concerns. He has won more than one hundred literary competitions in the short story and narrative category. He is also the recipient of the National Journalism Prize "Salvad Las Tablas," in the year 2000. Currently he attempts to balance creative literature with research literature. In this latter facet, he developed his doctoral thesis which, under the title "100 years in the development of the Upper Basin of the Guadiana: 1898-1998," won the 1st Research Prize for Doctoral Theses from the Economic and Social Council of Castilla La Mancha. He currently carries out an intense activity as a lecturer and teaches courses related to these investigations. He has made more than forty publications.
