Book Details

On Sunday mornings, is it about going to Church or going to worship? Oftentimes, it is easy to go through the motions of discipleship and leave it at that. We go to church, attend our meetings, and carry out our callings. But where does Christ fall into all of this? Without Him at the center, even these righteous duties can overwhelm rather than build–leaving us spiritually hungry. This book is an invitation to refocus–to move beyond habit and rediscover a living, sustaining relationship with Jesus Christ. True spiritual renewal does not come from doing more, but from drawing closer to Him. When Christ is at the center, faith deepens, endurance returns, and discipleship is renewed in Christ.

Author Description

John S. Bushman has worked as a teacher of youth and young adults for almost 30 years in Arizona, Washington State, and now Utah. He has also taught EFY and FSY for 20 years now. He is a careful student of the scriptures.

John is the author of King Before Kingdom but is also the co-author of the Scripture Study for Latter-day Saint Families series and has written Impractical Grace, Table Talk, and Teaching the Book of Mormon.

He is proud to be the father of five, the son of two, and the husband of one. He grew up in Arizona and served a mission in the Philippines. Later, he got his Bachelor's degree in Psychology and his Master's in Instructional Technology from ASU.

John loves hiking, writing, and most any adventure. Second to the Lord and his family, his greatest love is teaching and studying the scriptures with the youth and adults of the Church.
