Book Details
In scripture, repetition is a spotlight. When the same number keeps appearing, it's often pointing to something deeper. In the Book of Mormon Amulek is thrown in prison for three days, beaten three times, deprived of three necessities, and rejected by three different groups of people. Surely this repetition of the same number in just a few short verses is not a coincidence. Heaven Counts connects the ancient and modern world through deep analysis of scripture. By piecing together Eastern and Western cultures, symbolic writing, and spiritual teachings Heaven Counts allows readers to view the Book of Mormon from a new perspective. With deep respect for Jewish culture and religious text, Bruno Kahne invites readers to cleave unto the Lord and become fluent in the parabolic language of heaven.
Author Description
Bruno Kahne's father was born into a Jewish family whose members were murdered in Auschwitz during the Second World War. As a young man, Bruno's father discovered the restored gospel. While serving as a missionary in Paris, he had a spiritual revelation that one day he would be asked to translate the Book of Mormon into French. After all, who could better translate a book written by a Jew than a Jew? Years later, when Salt Lake City did indeed call upon him to undertake the translation, the Kahne family would gather in the living room, every Sunday, to hear about the challenges involved in transferring the holy meaning of a text originally written in a Semitic language to a Western language. These intimate gatherings, filled with Christian gospel teachings, Jewish cultural references, and quiet reverence, shaped Bruno's soul and anchored his spiritual journey. Standing at the crossroads of two identities-Jewish by heritage and Latter-day Saint by covenant-Bruno draws on both traditions in his writing. He holds a PhD in social psychology and serves as the Learning Director of a global company with over 160,000 employees. An experienced trainer, facilitator, and coach, he has led major projects, including the launch of three vocational schools, and has spoken at international conferences and trained individuals and teams in more than thirty countries. Bruno is the proud father of three sons and currently lives with his spouse in the south of France, where faith, family, and learning remain at the heart of his life and work.
