Book Details

She escaped once. He won't let her escape again. Annie Grey comes home hoping the worst is behind her, but peace feels out of reach in a town that watches, whispers, and never lets her forget. She tries to rebuild her life one careful step at a time, yet the fear she brought back from California still shadows her every move. Then a blue sedan appears in the bushes, strangers rifle through her mail, and a dead neighbor turns her unease into terror. With danger suddenly at her door, Annie calls the one man who knows exactly how deadly her past can be. Sam is a charming grifter with a talent for survival, and the only person who has ever made Annie feel truly safe. He is also the man she can't forget, no matter how hard she tries to move on. As enemies close in and revenge tightens around her family, Annie grapples with old panic, fierce longing, and a faith that feels tested at every turn. Running kept her alive once. This time, standing her ground may be the only way to save the people she loves.

Author Description

Cassie M. Shiels is a multi-genre author of several books, such as Caught in the Middle, The Royal Spy, and A Simple Christmas Kiss. She was born in Idaho but loves living in southern Utah, where it's warm. As a kid, she was often found reading on the school bus, before she did her homework, and late into the night. (Wait, she still does that!) In middle school, she determined that she loved creating stories as much as she enjoyed reading them and decided to become an author. She consistently works on that dream with every story idea that bounds into her head. She often writes more than one book at a time, and the same goes for reading; she's usually reading a paperback, an eBook, and an audiobook, so that no matter what she's doing, she has access to a good story. Besides writing, she enjoys collecting dragons, crafting, raising her five kids with her husband, and using random items as bookmarks.
