Book Details

The title "Sudum Nilavu" means "hidden truth." I have somewhat guessed the kind of resonance this book will create in the readers' minds. It was only after overcoming numerous setbacks and pains on my journey to becoming a director that the idea of writing this book came to me. Through this poetry collection, you will see through my eyes, love with my heart, and experience life through my soul. I believe that "Sudum Nilavu" will be like a mirror that shows you yourselves as you truly are. Often, despite our best efforts, we leave unsaid many things that we feel compelled to express, and we might have regretted that. The primary purpose of my poems—or rather, my scribbles—is to help all those neglected feelings and truths gradually reveal themselves to you. I believe that in this book, I have handled many topics that people hesitate to speak about in public or are not given the opportunity to discuss, doing so very honestly and elegantly. Many delicate emotions and mental agonies that were buried with people without ever being expressed—to ensure that they do not remain buried with me as well—I have transformed them into an art form and presented them. Moreover, this "Sudum Nilavu" is crafted to be a true companion, like a friend who always travels with you. In fact, all these are your poems; I have merely given linguistic form and brought to life the feelings that were sleeping in your hearts. You may agree or disagree with my thoughts, but you cannot ignore them. In simple terms, "Sudum Nilavu" will guide and illuminate.

Author Description

I was born on August 25, 1996, in a small village near Nagercoil in the Kanyakumari district—a place so obscure that even mentioning its name wouldn't ring a bell for most. I came into this world as the son of a butcher, in a simple, humble family. On the very day of my birth, my father's shop was set ablaze, an incident worth noting as it seemed to foreshadow the turbulence that would define my life. Years later, I turned to vegetarianism—a shift that tells its own tale. My parents named me Antony Sujais Prabu, but in time, I chose to go by "Steve Maxxx." Being an only child, I grew up alone from a young age. My solitude was adorned by countless books, movies, and songs that became my steadfast companions. I began my school years as a promising student, but soon my life veered onto a different path. From childhood, I carried a burning desire to create something meaningful. Even at a tender age, the films of director Bala captivated me, sparking an early fascination with storytelling. Though I studied in an English-medium school, I always felt an inexplicable pull toward Tamil—a deep, unshakable allure. In my teenage years, I developed an insatiable passion for two-wheelers, which led me into a devastating road accident. I survived with severe fractures, barely escaping with my life. Then came love—a messy entanglement that left me broken and scattered. In the end, my story unfolded much like one of Bala's films, steeped in tragedy. Along the way, the wrong friends arrived right on cue to finish what fate had started, steering me toward substance abuse. A string of failures, humiliations, losses, betrayals, and deceptions battered me relentlessly, each one a harsh lesson that carved clarity into my existence. Together, these trials forged me into a poet and a writer. This poetry collection stands as one of the fruits of that struggle. Director Bala's films didn't spare me either—they fueled my cinematic dreams. That passion, like a whirlwind, swept me up and dropped me in Saligramam, Chennai's beating heart of the Tamil film industry. What happened next spiraled beyond my control. After a point, hardships ceased to feel like hardships; it was as if someone had slipped an anesthetic into my mind. But one thing is certain—I'll keep striving as long as I draw breath. Writing and filmmaking are like my two eyes, inseparable from who I am. Let the past be the past; may what lies ahead unfold beautifully. The pen is my deity, and words are my divine salvation. Long live Tamil! May Tamil thrive forever!
