Book Details
Far From Simple: Life After Being "Not Your Average Teen" written by 20 year old Canadian author, Brittany Krystantos, recalls the ever-so common high school struggles with self identity, friendships and lack-thereof, popularity and stereotypes, and continues into young adulthood consisting of the terrible tinder dates including the time her date told her they'd have cute babies on their first date... run, oh yes! Britt shares with us her awful attempt at friends-with-benefits or should we say FWB, and heartbreak from the time her boyfriend broke up with her over text. Maybe, the heart healed from eating the entire jar of chocolate ice cream or maybe not; but it sure felt better in the moment. In this narrative nonfiction, she describes that "kind of girl" that is within all of us: ambitious, different, free spirited, wild, adventurous, yet innocent at the heart of things. She has gone through pain and hardship and dug her way out of the darkness to become enlightened by her soul's calling; a life purpose to be different, and far from simple. 20 years of life, what up!
Author Description
Brittany Krystantos: 20 year old author, speaker, mental health activist, and youth advocate. As a young author, Brittany published her first book, I Am Not Your Average Teen, at the age of fifteen and has continued her purpose by giving talks all over the GTA to high schools, and has been featured in interviews with Galore Magazine, Global News, Origins Cosmetics and many more. Not many of us know what it's like to live with Selective Mutism, let alone what it is: it is when a child, fully capable of speaking, chooses not to. Can you imagine the thoughts going through the peers, teachers, family, and friends (if there are any) of such a child, and the treatment that she is subsequently subjugated to? Brittany, not only survived the first 7 years of her life in the silence of Selective Mutism, but thrived through it! She has now converted that experience to her purpose in life. Sharing about her triumph over the past, made her an author at the age of 15, and now a youth advocate at 20. Britt has had many spiritual encounters from an early age; which have had a major influence on her teachings and way of living. Brittany continues to serve her mission to ensure mental health can be defeated. At just 20, Britt has found her purpose and aims to inspire, motivate and educate other young people to uncover the truth of who they are, just as she uncovered her own. She has developed a variety of tools to live a happy, peaceful life.
