This story goes back and forth between the present and the past. Mya is a modern-day girl living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her mom. Her mom has a shop and makes dance costumes. Mya loves to dance and takes ballet at a studio with her friends. One day the classroom teacher announces that the school will close because a terrible virus, called Covid, is spreading through the country. More bad news soon follows. In 1918, Elsa lived in Philadelphia. She lived in the same house as Mya. Elsa shared the home with her mother, father and grandmother. They had come to America from Germany.

Author Description

Carol Morosco was a teacher for many years in Virginia. She shared her interests in history and American stories with her students. During the summer Mrs. Morosco combined these two interests as she visited historic American places and the National Parks. Working with a Lakota teacher, Philomine Lakota, they wrote The Ghost at Devils Tower. She lives in Virginia with her husband and continues to write historical fiction books.
