Narasimha Reddy Katta was a professor of Solid State Physics and Materials Science and Head of the Department at the Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. He earned his Ph.D. from the Osmania University and received advanced training in Microprocessors and Digital Electronics from India Institute of Science (IISC) Bangalore (India). He Was a Post Doctoral research scientist at International Center for theoretical Physics, Trieste (Italy). He held positions of visiting faculty/ Scientist positions in various Universities / Institutions abroad. He is a life member of many professional bodies and Fellow of World Innovation foundation, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Academies of Science.He was Vice President and Hon. Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences and presently working as the President of Telangana Academy of Sciences (India). He has authored over 105 scientific papers and three review articles in International journals. He has been actively involved in the advancing of the research activity at the Department of Physics by bringing large amounts of research funding from UGC and DST. He was a coordinator for UGC-Special Assistance Program, and Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India) Funding program on Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure in Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (FIST).He was the Vice chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University (Nalgonda) and Incharge Vice Chancellor of Palamuru University (Mahabubnagar) both public Universities in the Telangana State of India Union.
