Whimisical illustrations and poetic verse engage young readers as they learn about the problem of over- fishing and ways humans can help save our ocean friends. Children can learn about some of the envionmental issues that face us today in an age appropriate way. A meeting is called to hatch a plan of defense against the "monsters," aka fishing trawlers. Brightly colored crabs and lobsters, sea snails, polka-dotted fish, and whales and dolphins rally together and make an appeal—with a hug and a kiss—to humans to make the right choices when they shop. The tale concludes with a sweet Sea Shepard shanty about the brave crews who sailed the seas to protect whales, dolphins, and fish in need. We're all invited to help keep our ocean clean and full of fish. A foreword by Captain Paul Watson explains the interdependence of all life in the ocean and its effect on humanity.
Sarah Jane Borg was born in Devon, England and became known for her portraits of dogs, horses, and people in both watercolors and oils. Sarah's passion for defending life and diversity in the sea has been wonderfully expressed in her paintings and words. Sarah also illustrated We Are The Ocean (2022) by Capt. Paul Watson. Born in South Devon, England, she now lives in the south of France.
