Ann Mallard is an American-born author who lived in Papua New Guinea from 1962 to 1986. Her memoir, My New Guinea World, is based on letters she wrote to her mother, chronicling her life as a young expatriate navigating the complexities of PNG's diverse cultures and colonial legacy. Ann taught biology at Unitech and was deeply involved in community and environmental projects. She also documented her adventures, from exploring the Sepik River to discovering scuba diving in PNG.
