Author Description

George W. Givens spent twenty years teaching American history in schools in upstate New York, Arizona, and Virginia before opening what became the largest family-owned bookstore in Virginia. George joined the LDS Church while living in Tucson, Arizona, in 1964. He and his wife, Sylvia, have spent several summers in Nauvoo, Illinois, as in-house historians. They are the parents of eight children.George developed an avid interest in LDS Church history upon learning of ancestors who joined the Church in upstate New York in 1830. His published titles include In Old Nauvoo, The Nauvoo Fact Book, Out of Palmyra, and The Hired Man's Christmas. He is also the author of 500 Little-Known Facts in Mormon History and 500 More Little-Known Facts in Mormon History, both published by Cedar Fort.Brother Givens passed away in 2004.
